We provide safe, temporary accommodation for women and children fleeing domestic violence, and have done so since 1989 in Redcar & Cleveland.
Our refuge has 8 fully furnished bedrooms as well as shared bathroom facilities, kitchen, lounge and playroom facilities. Our women's support staff provide advice and information, one to one support, and will accompany women to see solicitors and to other appointments. Help with housing, social services, legal matters, and benefits is provided along with health and educational support. One to one counselling support can also be accessed.
The refuge is accessible 24 hours per day and women can be referred through health visitors, social workers, the police, the Samaritans and can refer themeselves through calling the helpline or office telephone number.
Eva is a member of Women's Aid Federation of England, which is a nationwide organisation and has a network of refuges throughout the country.
Through our childcare services, staff structured play sessions and outings for children are provided. We also provide activities for women and children linked with other local services and facilities. Our Child Care Co-ordinator can help arrange school and nursery places as well as give advice, information and support regarding a range of matters relating to children.
